“Legacy” is an ancient term, the meaning of which has evolved and expanded over time from the original Latin legatus (from the verb legare, bequeath). Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary (Second Edition) defines legacy as "a bequest of property, money or other valuables given by a last will or testament, hence, anything handed down from a predecessor or ancestor" to a new generation for the purpose of maintaining and enhancing the value of assets, or the stature and reputation of the person, family, corporation or community of interests.

“Legacy duties” are taxes levied by the government on inheritances. In order to circumvent them, many persons resort to tax-exempt contributions to non-profit charitable and educational organizations dedicated to meeting the needs of society that are not covered by governmental subventions and services. The resulting increase in philanthropy has led, in turn, to a phenomenal growth in tax-exempt non-governmental organizations and to a new breed of fundraising professionals advising wealthy patrons on establishing financial legacies through a variety of innovative solicitations of tax-exempt contributions.

Cultura International, Inc. (CII) does not seek financial support for existing non-profit organizations. Instead, its mission is to create new opportunities for creative expression, to build platforms, pedestals, or institutional frameworks for recognizing and protecting the legacy of individuals, corporate citizens, families, clans, or ethnic groups whose professional or cultural achievements can be considered extraordinary and have evolved over a lifetime, or perhaps generations, away from the public limelight. As Aaron Copland composed his Fanfare for the Common Man, CII is committed to designing "tributes to the uncommon man or woman" whose efforts should not go unrecognized and whose experiences could enrich our culture.

CII recognizes the extraordinary value of preserving our clients legacy and their contribution to culture in its various manifestations, especially the micro- and macro-economic aspects of societal growth and development. CII supports UNESCO’s Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity by offering services to our clients that utilize the capabilities and skills of our creative partners to achieve the range of objectives.
